Staying organized is a key component of success in AVID. Each student will receive a binder (or may use their own) that will be color-coded by subject: Red for Reading, Blue for Math, Green for Science, and Purple for Social Studies. Students are expected to maintain a neat and complete binder at all times. To support time management and responsibility, each student will also be given a planner. At the start of every class period, students must record the daily activity and any homework or project due dates for their core classes—Math, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. This planner serves as a valuable tool for families to stay informed, send notes to teachers, and encourage their student’s progress. Weekly binder and planner checks will be conducted every Monday during Advisement to ensure students are prepared and organized for the week. Families are encouraged to support this system by regularly reviewing binders and planners at home. Please refer to the bright orange Binder Checklist to understand how organization is graded.
