Positive Behavior and Intervention Systems
Tointon Academy follows the components of Positive Behavior Intervention & Supports or PBIS. This school-wide Social emotional behavioral program emphasizes total-school support systems. This encompasses proactive strategies for defining, teaching, and supporting appropriate student behaviors, thereby creating a positive school environment. The continuum of positive behavior support for all students within the school is evident in the classroom and non-classroom settings, such as in hallways and on the playground.
Tointon Academy Engineers are expected to behave in a way that demonstrates REMI:
- Respect
- Empathy
- Mindfulness
- Integrity
For our Elementary students, students seen modeling appropriate behaviors are opportunely awarded REMI Bucks. REMI Bucks are incentives for REMI behavior. REMI Bucks are collected by the student to be used at our Monthly REMI Store. At our Middle School level, REMI Bucks are given and used for quarterly incentive events and as a token economy to promote personal responsibilities and organization.
For all students presenting exceptional behavior, they can receive a REMI Above and Beyond Award. These awards are turned into the office, exchanged for an instant small prize, a positive phone call home and then the award is placed in a raffle box for quarterly assembly prize drawing.
